Personal Information Collection Statement

School of Chinese (“SoC”), Faculty of Arts, The University of Hong Kong

 

This Privacy Statement is intended to inform you of your rights under the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

 

Please be advised that any personal data provided by you will be used by The University of Hong Kong (HKU) for the following purposes:

 

  1. Managing your registration as a participant in seminars, workshops, programmes, events, or for any other purposes mentioned in the data collection form.
  2. Maintaining contact with you, keeping you updated on the latest University developments, and providing information, such as University news, activities, events, giving initiatives, seminars, courses, programmes, training, continuing professional development, and other services related to the University's engagement activities.
  3. Compiling event and alumni-related statistics. The outcome of the resulting statistics will not be in a form that will identify your registration and any of your personal data.

 

The University will handle your personal data with strict confidentiality and will not disclose any personal information provided by you to any external organization unless you have been informed or it is required by law. If you would like to stop receiving communications from us, please send a request with your full name in English, year of graduation, and programme of study to chinese@hku.hk. You are advised to review the general points regarding the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance as set out in the link to the University's data privacy policy statement.

 

If you wish to access or correct your personal data, please submit a written request and, if necessary, pay a modest fee. Such requests, as well as inquiries for more information, should be sent to the School of Chinese's Personal Data Protection Coordinator by email at chinese@hku.hk.

The GDPR Privacy Notice supplements the Personal Information Collection Statement if and to the extent that the GDPR of the European Union is applicable and relevant to you.
